The Dhow Bed is a suspended net daybed with a frame to hang it from and optional extras like a sun cover and side tables. A unique concept in outdoor furniture, the bed sways gently giving you the sensation of being on water, while the net provides a comfortable, weather proof bed for you to float on.

Frame & Net Colour
For the steel frames and net rope we have selected 3 colour schemes – white, ivory and black. These complement different architectural design styles. We can swap the rope and frame colours if your really want, but we do think matching is better. The dock-line rope that suspends the daybed only comes in black and white – white for the ivory frame.

Sun Cover
White
Made from 3-ply bedouin stretch tent fabric, the sun cover provides shade in style. Easy to set-up and take down, the cover comes with instructions and a stow bag. The sun cover also helps keep the Dhow Bed clean and slow down the weathering of the wood. The extremely durable fabric is waterproof, so technically it is also a rain cover. The cover is attached with 4 steel brackets (painted to match the frame) and tightened by 4 tie-downs that all fasten to existing mounts on the Dhow Bed frame.

The Dhow Bed net is pretty comfy as is, but if you want to take it to the next level then you can add the mattress: a thin foam mattress clad in high quality, washable upholstery fabric with a zip for easy removal. The mattress is especially great in winter for a bit of extra warmth or if you want to make the Dhow Bed your new nap spot. We have selected two fabrics that complement the Dhow Daybed:

The backrests are wood, which is nice and strong, but you’ll want a cushie or two for proper deluxe sailing. Our cushions are 60x35cm Kapok filled and clad in high quality, washable upholstery fabric with a zip for easy removal. We have selected two fabrics that complement the Dhow Daybed:
Side Tables
You can put your drink on the grass or wedge it in the net or have your butler hold it. Or you can add a side-table to the frame and you’re sorted. The side tables are brushed stainless steel with a cup holder, a champagne/wine glass holder and space for the hors d’oeuvres, tapas, phone, book and glasses. You can attach one side table to each leg.
Complete Dhow Bed
It’s better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. You can get the standard Dhow Bed and order the add-ons later or take the whole lot and get a sweet discount. The complete Dhow Bed comes with the Sun Cover, Mattress, four Cushions and four Side Tables. Choose the frame and net colour, as well as the material for the mattress and cushions.
Craftsmanship
The Dhow Bed was designed by Cleo Brown (fashion designer) and Ivan Brown (industrial designer) and is handmade by our skilled team of welders, carpenters and upholsterers. We spent 2 years refining the concept and testing prototypes, to deliver something of the highest quality at the lowest price.

Future Add-ons
We are working on more add-ons, like a set of drop down blinds for extra privacy / sun protection, a solar light for night-time sailing and a projector screen for outdoor movie nights. We have pre-included fasteners on all the Dhow Beds so that future add-ons will be compatible with your beds and can just be ordered and attached.
Net Tightening
The net will stretch with use, so we have made it easy to tighten. You simply pull the slack through to one side where the rope is secured by a wedge cleat (a boat device that secures rope). No knots and no cutting – the extra rope is just pushed into the bed frame.
Maintenance
The Dhow Bed is designed to be left outside in the rain/sprinklers.
- The frame is Galvanised steel, coated in enamel (15 yrs)
- The bed net is marine grade UV stable rope (10 yrs)
- The sun cover is waterproof stretch tent fabric, treated with anti-fungal agents (10 yrs)
- The hardwood is sealed with the best deck varnish money can buy (3-5 yrs)
- Everything else is stainless steel (20 yrs)
The seal on the hardwood should last at least 3 years before dulling. At which point it can be resealed or removed and sent to us to reseal. Everything is designed so that it can be easily taken apart and reconditioned or replaced.
Flat Pack
The Dhow Bed packs into a crate and ships wherever you like.
It bolts together easily with a step-by-step guide and tools provided. The bed comes pre-woven, only needing to be tightened once the unit is up. The assembly takes about an hour and requires two people.
Commercial Options
Events, hotels, restaurantvs and bars are great spots for a Dhow Bed for several reasons.
- Novelty: its a quick, stylish addition that can draw interest and fuel virality.
- Pay to sway: options for booking the spot through a tab or rental fee are possible.
- Weather proof: its a low hassle outdoor daybed.
Commercial spaces are also good exposure for us so we are open to partnerships and discounted deals with the above mentioned businesses.
Installation
If you don’t rate your assembly skills, and don’t have someone handy handy, we can deliver and install the Dhow Bed for you. It’ll cost you though, relative to where you are in relation to us. There is a saving on the box which we can take home and reuse – we will deduct that from the delivery/installation fee.
Choosing the Colour
The white colour option is intended mainly for events and catering suppliers. Black is well suited to Modern, Industrial, Bohemian, Country and Contemporary design styles. Ivory is well suited to the Scandinavian, Traditional, Minimal, Rustic, Coastal and Glam design styles. Although designers love mixing things up, and they both look great in any garden.
Garden Maintenance
The Dhow Bed is waterproof so don’t worry about the sprinklers. To mow your lawn, simply raise the bed to its highest level and you will be able to run a push mower under it from each side.
